Moaning

People that moan about IE's support of CSS amuse me. Don't get me wrong, getting IE and Gecko and Opera all working is pretty hard, for example my lass CSS change screwed up Gecko in my menus. I forgot to check and now it just looks wrong.

The point is that IE6 isn't standard compliant. It's almost 3 years old, and it won't get any better. Moaning won't help, and contrary to the Microsoft Hater's theory, Microsoft didn't make IE6 not support CSS1 in some big conspiracy.

So either you try to support IE6, and you live with the problems, or you don't, but there really is no reason to moan about it, not to mention that Hating companies is so 90s.

it's your perception that microslop haters suffer from conspiracy leanings. this auntie-microslop thing believes rather that it's actually the incompetence and arrogance of the redmondites. they destroyed the competition (admittedly with an assist from netscape themselves) and now, with the field all to themselves, have no interest in fixing the obvious flaws in their product.

the concept that we have to wait until 2008 or so when the redmondites finally manage to release "longhorn" to get a css-compliant browser is laughable. even more amusing that it's going to be bound into the o/s. given i'll never upgrade my win98 box—it'll be switched to osx when it finally croaks—it's going to be impossible for me to support the new ie browser. and i won't even try...

opera doesn't count: it's almost as badly flawed as ie, and that's possibly even more inexcusable given they're still actively working on it.

anyway, buddy, arguing with microslop bigots is as pointless as arguing with microslop haters. thanks for visiting...

I'm crossposting my answer that I wrote to spriggs' webpage.

I'm not arguing, my point about you picking your own application still stands. I just want to point out that IE has to be bound to the OS. It was enforced by the courts. That issue is not something to discuss or argue about, it's a fact.

I'm not a Microsoft lover either, I use IE mainly because I'm used to it. I would use Firebird and sometimes do, but I find that too many sites out there cater for IE, and by my use of firebird I get their pages rendered incorrectly. Also firebird is sometimes unforgivably slow.

I am interested in your used of the term "Microslop Bigots". It doesn't (to my, admittedly inferior being brought up in Israel, understanding of English) say what you want it to say, wouldn't you prefer the term " Microslop Fanboi" or "Pro- Microslop Bigot" ? :)
