Apparently now, the BBC thinks that silence is art.
I don't have much to say about it, except that the world is going mad, and at this rate we are all going to die soon, and I'm sure whatever intelligent life form evolves in 10million years time will think that we should have all gone earlier
Posted by Gareth at January 13, 2004 08:14 AM | TrackBackHave you read Gullible's Travels? Do if you haven't; I think you'll like it.
There's a chapter where the character, Johnathan Gullible, visits the state museum, and the only work of art displayed there is an empty frame - it was the only one the government can sponsor, because it offends no one, and no one can say it's ugly.
BTW, John Cage has some really good stuff. (even for somebody as ignorant in classical/modern music as myself)

In fact I haven't read most of the classics. Sure I've read kid versions, or seen cartoons, but one day I plan on sitting down and reading the originals.
For example, I've heard that "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is very good, but very differant to what we are taught as children.
