I wanted an iPod, but after watching this movie I no longer want one.
So what good mp3 player is there ? Well Creative have the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra which might be good, I have to price it. And then there is iRiver but I can't seem to find their newer products in the UK.
Update:
Maybe all is not lost, I just found this webpage. I still have to convince my wife to allow me to buy an iPod mind you.
Update #2
I guess I'm not the only person bloging about this (DUH!) so you can read more here
Take a look at this, note that it's from a serious webpage, there is no satire here.
Well they removed the quotes from the heading of that news article. I've decided I will live in the delusion that it is this very blog that caused the to fix it.
Unless the headline of This BBC news article has changed, it still reads " Israeli barrier guards 'killed' ".
I'm not taking issue with the story, just the headline, it goes on later to say "Two Israeli security guards have been shot dead ". So why the sarcastic quotes around "killed" in the headline ? Are Israeli soldiers' deaths not important enough for the BBC to consider as real killings ?
Wired news have an article about using Biodiesel (basically vegetable oil) in diesel engines. It all sounds very good until you get to the bit about ...will begin using a blend of diesel fuel that includes 5 percent biodiesel. .
Yes that's 5%. Surely 5% of the fuel can't have that much of an effect on the environment. How can 5% of the diesel make it 'smell better' ?
Oh well, it's a good start I guess.
John C. Dvorak wrote an article about Blogs. He doesn't like them, or more importantly he doesn't think they have a future.
I'm a huge fan of John's, I used to subscribe to PC Mag just to read his column. I'm not saying he is right or wrong in the article (He is probably right), but maybe the goal of some blogs are differant to what he is talking about.
One of the responses to his article says "a simple fact that the vast majority of people have absolutely nothing of interest to say" and you can't argue with that. But the blog you are currently reading is more there for me, and maybe some people that know me. I don't even know if people read this, but if you do, feel free to stay.
People ask me why I didn't make http://www.garethlewin.com in XHTML.
At the time I wasn't exactly sure which I prefered, I just knew I wanted to be standardised. I also knew that I had to have IE working properly, and had a few failed attempts. Instead of trying to explain the problems I had, I will just point you at http://erik.eae.net/archives/2003/07/29/21.07.24/
I'm also using this as a test to see if trackback works :)
A couple of friends of mine from work have started their own webpage athttp://www.withbits.com. It's still 'under construction' but they are really talented, so expect to see cool stuff there !
Someone has to make them illegal!. I use popupblock for popups, and it's excellent, but I need to find a good tool to get rid of flash crap.
Try this on for size : http://www.somethingawful.com/firemancomics/mygoodness.htm
Well thanks to Leigh at work, I discovered http://www.digiguide.com today. It's cool, so if you live in the UK or Ireland take a look.
Part of what makes it cool is that I can write plugins for it, so my plans for my ShuttleXPC just get bigger...
