Help us keep our daughter alive, and we will get you spammed!

Regardless of your opinion on the Terri Schiavo case, you have to agree that the parents selling the list of donors to spammers is disgraceful.

Pride

In a trend bucking fashion, and totally ignoring the not too positive reviews Fifa Street is Number 1 in the UK charts.

This is the third week we have been on the charts, and unlike most games, we have been going up every week. It just goes to show that word of mouth (at least that's my theory) can really help a product.

And here is a very amusing, and positive review.

God of War

I bought God of War today, and so far I'm absolutely loving it.

This shouldn't come as a surprise, considering the reviews it's getting

I'll try to write a proper full review of the game when I'm finished it, but for now I can say that Dragon can stick with Dante, and I'll stick with Kratos!

Have I got news for you?

As you have probably noticed, google news has been updated with new features.

The main change is the ability to set up which sections you would like to see, where to place them, and to add your own custom sections. If anyone is interested, here is my setup

I am still playing around with it, trying to work out what works best for me, but this is really neat.

The new threat!

Only in America can the fear of terrorism be so bad that they would arrest a highschool kid for writing a short story about zombies.

Zombies!

I would write something witty about this, but to be honest, I can't come up with funnier stuff. Maybe if I wrote for funny webpages, but hell even they couldn't have come up with this!

And to top it off, I know a Roger Clark (Although I seriously doubt the highschool is named after him!)

Auto Assault

I stumbled upon Auto Assault today while looking at NCSoft's web page.

It looks pretty original, with the huge influx of MMOGs lately, it's nice to see someone is trying something new.

But why am I telling you this? Well, the tag line reads "A Massively Multiplayer Vehicular Combat Game set in a Post-Apocalyptic Future" (my emphasis).

So presumably we are living in the "Pre-Apocalyptic Present"? Notice how many stories/books/games are set "post apocalipse"? Surely when the apocalypse comes, no one will be around to build vehicular combat machines? :)

Oh well, the game looks cool anyway.

Rhetoric

Mark Evans, one of my colleagues at work, today wrote something that I personally found interesting, so I am posting it here for others to see.

Nothing new about what he is saying, just nicely put.

... this ridiculous extremist left vs. extremist right "debate" is doing nothing other than drawing attention away from debate on real issues. The problems with people like Michael Moore and Ann Coulter is that they aren't arguing about fact; they don't discuss issues. They choose specific things to take out of context and try to build an emotional anger response. The result is that no-one's mind is changed, but both sides become more polarized. Those who believed you before are now morally outraged, and those who don't believe barely even pay attention. Sometimes those who didn't believe before become morally outraged and are driven further into their polarized corner, and you see more and more indignant discussions about how horrible this individual is (not specifically referring to this conversation, but look at any of the fallout surrounding any of these "pundits," leftwing or rightwing).

To defeat these people you don't give them credit for their "debates" by entering in to them, you ignore them. If no one pays attention, maybe they'll go away and democracy can go back to it's spirit: an informed populace making informed decisions. I know, I know: I live in a dream world.

A look at American journalism

Recently, a Canadian TV show called "The Fifth Estate" has a very interesting episode on the conservative jouranlism in the USA.

The CBC's webpage for the story can be found here and has a link to the entire 45 episode.

I recommend watching it, it's very interesting.
