Burnaby Lake

Near our house is Burnaby Central park. It has a pretty nice lake, and I have been referring to it as Burnaby Lake. Over the weekend Karina and I decided to do some walking, and discovered that there is a much bigger lake called Burnaby Lake. Wedged in between the main highway and an industrial park, we found one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to.

Also, seasons in Canada are very different to what I have been used to. In Israel there are no real seasons, just summer, and a few weeks when it's cool and rains. In Dublin Ireland there is just one season, winter. Sure in July it might actually stay dry for 3/4 days in a row, and the sun might shine, but it's still cold. In British Columbia the seasons are very much as they should be. Every few months, there is an obvious change, for example the autumn (fall for you Americans) has just started, and the leaves are very obviously changing colours, and to me it's really cool.

Lastly, this was my first chance to try out my new circular polarizer. I think it made a big improvement, for example in the last picture of the duck, if I hadn't used the polarizer the water would have reflected the midday sun instead of being nice and clear.

You can find the entire gallery here

The view from the lookout post

Autumn colours

Lots of birds in the lake

And this duck

I'm pretty proud of this picture, it's the best animal picture I've ever taken, also note the clear water thanks to the polarizer

Chimping

I have to admit it, I chimp. Some might find that disgusting, others might think that it's acceptable, but the fact of the matter is, I chimp.

You don't know what chimping is? Well I didn't know until today, even though I've been chimping for a while now. You can find out what chimping is by watching this movie

Do you chimp? I'm sure you do!

Yao Ming

People that know me will attest to the fact that I value sarcasm above most other things. Combine that with one of my favorite sports, one of my favorite athletes, and you come out with this article about Yao Ming

Read it, even if you don't care for the NBA, it's really pretty funny.

Slam City Jam - Kids and Hair

So, while I was at the slam city jam some company was doing, as a promotion, strange hair styles in their colors (orange and black) to kids. I took a few pictures, and here are the ones I like.

Entire Gallery: here

#1 -

#2 - Side note, I rented the sigma 70-200 F/2.8 and I really enjoyed it. This is one of the best images from it IMO, I just love the seperation from the background, and how smooth the guys in the background look.

#3 - This girl (I think) sat down to have her hair done, and I pointed my camera at her, she seemed to notice I was focusing on her and gave me this amazing smile. This is one of my all time favorite images i've taken.
